D. Wayne Lukas plans to run the undefeated Scrimshaw in the Jan. 18 Santa Catalina Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita and not the Holy Bull Stakes (Gr. III) at Gulfstream Park on the same day. The Santa Catalina is worth $150,000, while the Holy Bull is worth $100,000. Both races are at 1 1/16 miles. "(Gulfstream) asked me if that was a possibility (to run in the Holy Bull), and I said, 'It's always a possibility," Lukas said. "But we're leaning towards staying home, obviously." Scrimshaw, an impressive allowance winner on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita, worked five furlongs Friday morning at Santa Anita in 1:00.60.Purchased for $550,000 by Robert and Beverly Lewis at the Keeneland April sale, the son of Gulch, bred in Kentucky by Stan and Ingrid Stefanski, has won both of his career starts at Santa Anita.
