Danedream Won't Run in Breeders' Cup

She will go to Japan if she races again this year, according to Daily Racing Form.

Danedream, winner of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) Oct. 2, will not participate in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in November at Churchill Downs, according to an Oct. 10 Daily Racing Form story.

“We are not sure if she is going to race this year any more, but if she is going to race, she is going to Japan,” Gisela Schiergen, wife of trainer Peter Schiergen, told the Form.

Following the Danedream’s Arc triumph, Peter Schiergen had discussed running the 3-year-old Lomitas filly next in the Nov. 4 Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT), the Nov. 5 Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT), or the Japan Cup (Jpn-I) Nov. 27.

The Form reported that if Danedream races again this year, it will be in the Japan Cup. Teruya Yoshida of Shadai Farm in Japan purchased a half-share in Danedream only days before she was supplemented to the Arc. He owns the bay filly in partnership with Gestut B. Eberstein. She captured the Longines Gorsser Preis Von Baden (Ger-I), Grosser Preis Von Berlin Deutschland  Preis (Ger-I), and Oaks d’Italia (Ity-II) this year prior to her five-length Arc triumph.

Bred by Gestut Brummerhof in Germany, Danedream is out of the Danehill mare Danedrop.
