HBPA to be Honored by RTCA

Organization will receive the 2011 Community Service Award.

At its annual White Horse Luncheon, the Race Track Chaplaincy of America will present its 2011 Community Service Award to the Horseman’s Benevolent Protective Association.

“There’s a long history of collaboration between both organizations across many states,” said RTCA’s interim executive director Paul Ransdell in a release. “Racetrack ministries owe much of their impact to the support of local HBPA affiliates.”

At Churchill Downs Nov. 3, RTCA will recognize the HBPA for its friendship and service to the racetrack community.

“It is a privilege and honor for the National HBPA to be recognized by the RTCA,” said national HBPA president Joe Santanna in a statement. “One of the cornerstones of each HBPA Affiliate’s benevolence program is the financial support of the local chaplaincy. The title of the award is very appropriate since the backstretch of the racetrack is a community that all HBPA’s serve.”

The featured speaker will be Bill Casner, co-owner of 2009 Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (UAE-I) winner Well Armed. Also to be honored is the late Pimlico legend, Chick Lang.

Tickets for the event are available by contacting RTCA at (859) 410-7822 or
