BC Poker Tournament Will Benefit Charities

The event is scheduled for Nov. 2 at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel Southern Indiana

The Breeders’ Cup and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi are joining forces to host the First Annual Breeders’ Cup Celebrity Invitational presented by The Deepstacks Poker Tour. The horse racing and poker communities will come together in support of Breeders’ Cup Charities the evening of Nov. 2 at the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel Southern Indiana.

Mizrachi will be joined by a number of poker pros including 3-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow and 2009 WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener as well as NBA stars Brian Cardinal (Dallas Mavericks), Jermaine Taylor (Sacramento Kings), and Carl Landry (New Orleans Hornets). “The Grinder” finished fifth in last year’s WSOP main event and is considered one of poker’s most skilled and aggressive players.

“Poker and horse racing are a natural fit as there’s action, excitement, and high stakes in both,” Mizrachi said. “I’m really excited to host this event and to help connect the horse racing and poker communities.”

“Our partnership with ‘The Grinder’ this year has expanded our reach beyond traditional horse racing fans,” said Peter Rotondo, vice president of media and entertainment for Breeders’ Cup. “This unique event gives fans a chance to play with world class poker players and athletes and is a great addition to our Championship week.”

The $230 buy-in charity tournament features unlimited $100 re-buys and one $100 optional add-on, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Breeders’ Cup Charities. Breeders’ Cup Charities supports The V Foundation for Cancer Research and supports equine charities such as, the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, Thoroughbred Charities of America, and The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, among notable causes.

The night will kick off with a mix-and-mingle cocktail party at 5:30 (EST), giving players the chance to interact with world champion athletes and poker pros. Registration begins at 6 o’clock, with cards in the air at 7 o’clock.
