F-T November Catalog Contains QR Codes

Buyers can view enhanced online catalog pages through a Smart Phone app.

The 2011 Fasig-Tipton November select mixed sale print catalog contains “QR Code Enhanced Pedigrees.” It is the first Thoroughbred sale catalog to ever offer this technology, according to Fasig-Tipton.

Each catalog page is equipped with a QR (Quick Response) Code in the bottom corner, which can be scanned via a Smart Phone app. The user will be immediately linked to that horse’s enhanced online catalog page, where all information on the page can be accessed.

The November sale’s enhanced online catalog has an individual webpage for each offering in the sale.  These web pages feature such information as updated pedigrees, updated past performances, race replays, links to news articles about each offering, and consignor contact information. For each weanling, there is a link to its sire’s Stallion Register page. The site also features a landing page for each consignor that provides an index for the entire consignment.

“These technological enhancements put more resources than ever at the fingertips of prospective buyers,” said Max Hodge, director of client services. “Our new online catalogue is easily accessed from any computer, smart phone, or tablet, and our print catalog is the first Thoroughbred sales catalog in the world to be equipped with QR Code technology. All of us at Fasig-Tipton are proud to debut these enhancements at our November sale, one of the more special Thoroughbred auctions held in the world today.”

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 155 lots for the November auction, which will begin at 4:00 p.m. (EST) Nov. 6 at the company’s Newtown Paddocks complex in Lexington.

Catalogs are available at all Fasig-Tipton offices. A catalog also can be viewed online and via the Equineline iPad App.
