The Daddy, winner of the Super Derby (gr. II), will relocate to Richard Hessee’s Trophy Club Training Center near Royal, Ark. The 9-year-old stallion (Valid Expectations--With a Princess, by With Approval) formerly stood at Brereton C. Jones’ Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky.
The Daddy won at first asking, posting a 100 Beyer Speed Figure at Hollywood Park in a 1:09.01 triumph for six furlongs, and then scored by 12 lengths at Saratoga. Coming off two weeks rest, he ran fourth in the King’s Bishop Stakes (gr. I) before winning the Super Derby at Louisiana Downs.
As a sire, The Daddy is represented by four stakes horses from his first crop including Saratoga grade II stakes-placed Manchurian High.
“The addition of The Daddy to our stallion barn is an indication that we are bringing solid quality stallions to the Arkansas breeder,” Hessee said. “He is an outstanding physical and is already showing tremendous potential as a stallion.”
The deal was brokered by Patrick Morell.
