'Quiza' Charges Late to Take Lydia Tesio

Quiza Quiza Quiza overhauled Beatrice Aurore late to win the Longines Lydia Tesio.

Quiza Quiza Quiza overtook Beatrice Aurore in deep stretch to capture the Longines Lydia Tesio (It-I) at Capannelle Oct. 23.

The race marked the first group I success for the daughter of Golden Snake, who has improved her record to five wins in 15 starts for owner/breeder Ricardo Cantoni and trainer Luigi Riccardi.

At the break it was Night of Dubai and Kapitale that went to the front to set the pace. Both Beatrice Aurore and Quiza Quiza Quiza were settled toward the rear of the field throughout the early stages of the race, with their jockeys waiting to make their moves until the field entered the home straight.

As the field turned for home, Mirco Demuro produced Beatrice Aurore with a strong run up the inside rail to take the lead. Fabio Branca had Quiza Quiza Quiza in high gear and rolling on the outside as he set the 5-year-old mare down for the drive.

Quiza Quiza Quiza needed every inch of the home stretch to collar Beatrice Aurore, as the bay mare just got up in the final strides to win by a half-length. Kapitale stayed on strongly to finish third, another 1 1/2 lengths further back.

Final time for the 10 furlongs over the soft going was unavailable.

Quiza Quiza Quiza was bred in England and is out of Quiz Chow, by Pelder.
