Chiota Retiring as OBS President in 2012

General manager Tom Ventura will take over as president after Chiota's retirement.

Long-time Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. president Tom Chiota announced he will be retiring June 30 of next year.

Taking over the helm upon Chiota's retirement will be Tom Ventura, director of sales and general manager of the Central Florida sale company. Ventura joined OBS in 1994 as assistant director of sales and as served in his current position for the past 12 years.

Chiota has been with OBS since 1978, overseeing the company’s substantial growth and diversification with the addition of the OBS Feed & Supply, the acquisition of Ocala Jai-Alai, and inter-track wagering.

“We appreciate Tom Chiota’s long and dedicated service to OBS,” OBS board chairman  Mike O’Farrell said. “We’re sorry to see him leave and wish him the best in retirement. Tom Ventura has worked alongside Mr. Chiota for many years and is a well deserved successor.”

A new director of sales will be named at a future date.
