Unusual Heat to Stand for $20,000

His son Acclamation is an Eclipse Award contender.

Unusual Heat, California’s leading sire this year and sire of Horse of the Year contender Acclamation, will stand in 2012 for $20,000 at John C. Harris’ Harris Farms near Coalinga, Calif.

Acclamation is the third offspring of Unusual Heat to go over $1 million in career earnings. Unusual Heat is also represented this year by grade II winner Burns, Del Mar stakes winner Mensa Heat, and graded stakes performer The Usual Q.T.

Unusual Heat, who set the all-time California record for progeny earnings in 2008, has progeny earnings of more than $4 million this year.

He is part of a stallion roster that includes Swiss Yodeler (2012 fee $5,000), Lucky Pulpit ($2,500), Thorn Song ($3,500), Desert Code ($2,000), Lucky J.H. ($1,500), Tizbud  ($2,500), Singletary ($1,500), Stormy Jack ($1,500), and newcomer Heatseeker ($6,500).
