Senada, Cheetah Square Off in La Prevoyante

1 1/2 mile grass test for fillies and mares drew field of 11.

Senada and Cheetah, the respective first- and third-place finishers in the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes at Keeneland Oct. 23, will again square off in the $100,000 La Prevoyante Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Calder Casino & Race Course Dec. 2.

The La Prevoyante will be run at the Dowager distance of 1 1/2 miles on turf and drew a field of 11 fillies and mares.

Trained by Barclay Tagg for Roy and Gretchen Jackson’s Lael Stables, Senada snapped an 11-race losing streak when she came from far off the pace to collar Upperline in deep stretch to win the Dowager, with 6-5 favorite Cheetah finishing third.

Jockey Edgar Prado gets a return call on Senada as the $800,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by Pulpit seeks her first graded stakes win. Senada finished second in an overnight stakes and third in the Glens Falls Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Saratoga prior to the Dowager, both of which were won by La Prevoyante entrant Emerald Beech.

Jockey Rajiv Maragh will be aboard Cheetah for trainer Christophe Clement, who has won the La Prevoyante four times previously, twice with Coretta. A daughter of Tiger Hill, Cheetah won a 1 1/2-mile listed stakes in England last year and won the Robert G. Dick Memorial gr. IIIT) at Delaware Park in July going 11 furlongs on turf.

Emerald Beech, fifth in the 1 1/2-mile Long Island Handicap (gr. IIIT) last out, will be ridden by Alex Solis. The 5-year-old homebred by Maria's Mon ran evenly to finish fourth behind Stacelita in the Flower Bowl Invitational (gr. IT) at Belmont Park Oct. 1 following the Glens Falls victory.
