Fravel, Haskin on Dec. 20 'Talkin' Horses'

The final segment of's popular Talkin' Horses podcast for 2011 will take place at 2 p.m. EST Dec. 20, with two special guests—Breeders' Cup president and chief executive officer Craig Fravel and Steve Haskin of Blood-Horse Publications.

Fravel, who succeeded Greg Avioli at Breeders' Cup and took over July 18 after leaving his position as president and general manager of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Southern California, will answer questions about overseeing his first World Championships this past November at Churchill Downs. He will also discuss future plans, including host-site selection, for the Breeders' Cup and his vision for the World Championships.

Fravel joined Del Mar as its executive vice president in 1990 after working as a partner in the San Diego, Calif., law firm of Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps, where he specialized in corporate law and finance. He was promoted to president and general manager of Del Mar in 2010.

Haskin, an award-winning Turf writer renowned for his Kentucky Derby commentary and his Breeders' Cup coverage, will discuss the 2011 Horse of the Year picture and offer insights on what to look for in racing in 2012.
