Pentire Filly Sets Pace at NZ Select Sale

She brings NZ$170,000 ($140,131 in U.S. funds) Feb. 1 at Karaka sale.

A daughter of Pentire topped the opening session of New Zealand Bloodstock’s select yearling sale Feb. 1 at Karaka in New Zealand, bringing NZ$170,000 ($140,131 in U.S. funds). John White Bloodstock purchased her from Mark and Denny Baker’s Hallmark Stud.

The bay filly is the fourth reported foal out of the unraced Redoute's Choice mare Eyes Light Up.

The results for the session included a gross of NZ$6,684,750 ($5,510,240) for the 146 yearlings that were sold. The average price was $45,786 ($37,741) and the median price was NZ$35,000 ($28,851). For last year’s entire auction, the average and median were NZ$45,711 and NZ$39,000, respectively.

The clearance rate for this year’s opening session was 76%.
