First Foals Reported for Tale of Ekati

The son of Tale of the Cat had his first three foals hit the ground Feb. 1.

Multiple grade I winner Tale of Ekati  sired his first three reported foals on the same morning, as two fillies and a colt were born on Feb. 1.

Just after midnight, a filly was the first to be born at Corner Woods Farm in Lexington. Bred by Dr. Charles Kidder and Nancy Cole, the filly is out of the stakes-producing Wild Again mare I'm Beguiled Again. Later that morning another filly was born in New York. Bred by Robert Clements, that filly is out of the mare Wicked Angel, a full sister to multiple stakes winner and grade III-placed Grey Comet.
Tale of Ekati had a third foal on the ground when his first colt gave birth in West Virginia. Bred by Catherine Jennings, the colt is out of the Fast Play mare London Valley, dam of 2-year-old stakes winner Stately Character.
Bred and campaigned by Charles Fipke, Tale of Ekati retired to Darby Dan with earnings of $1,182,992, and he bred a full book of 116 mares in his first season at stud in 2011.
By Tale of the Cat , Tale of Ekati hails from the Sunday Silence mare Silence Beauty, a half-sister to champion Sky Beauty. Tale of Ekati will stand at Darby Dan in 2012 for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses.
