For the third consecutive year, Churchill Downs and NBC have partnered to give one person the chance to place a $100,000 win bet in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) on Saturday, May 5, through the Kentucky Derby DreamBet contest.
The first year the bet was offered, Glen Fullerton of Houston won $900,000 when Super Saver won the 2010 Derby at odds of 8-1. Last year, Dave “Rico” Flores of Chicago came close but fell short when Mucho Macho Man finished third behind Animal Kingdom.
The Kentucky Derby Dream Bet contest is open to U.S. residents age 21. Entries can be made Kentucky Derby online via Twitter and/or Facebook until Saturday, April 14, at 11:59 p.m. ET. To enter, follow CNBC on Twitter and send the following tweet: “I want to win the @CNBC #derbydreambet.” Also, Facebook users can enter the contest by visiting the CNBC, NBC Sports, or Kentucky Derby Facebook pages and complete the sweepstakes entry form appearing on each page .
One fan will be selected at random at the end of the promotion period to win a VIP trip for two to this year’s Derby and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), including airfare, lodging, and ground transportation, and the chance to place a $100,000 win bet on any horse in the Kentucky Derby. If the horse wins, they’ll keep the winnings.
“Participating in the Derby Dream Bet experience will forever be one of my greatest life experiences,” said Fullerton, whose reaction delivered a memorable television moment when captured on NBC Sports’ coverage of the Kentucky Derby.
