Rachel Alexandra In Foal to Bernardini

2009 Horse of the Year had Curlin colt in January.

Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year who produced her first foal this year, has been pronounced in foal to Darley stallion Bernardini .

The mare’s status for the 2012 breeding season was announced by owner Stonestreet Farm in a Twitter message and on Rachel Alexandra’s Facebook page. The posting did not say when the mating between Rachel and Bernardini took place.

Bernardini, who stands at Darley for a $150,000 stud fee, is the sire of the first foal produced from 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta.

Rachel Alexandra produced a colt by Curlin  Jan. 22 of this year.
