Winner Appointed to Serve on CHRB

The appointment, made by California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr., was announced April 3.

Charles Winner, 71, of Beverly Hills, has been appointed has been appointed by California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. to the California Horse Racing Board, it was announced April 3. The position requires California Senate confirmation.

Winner, a horse owner, founded Winner and Mandabach Campaigns and has been a partner since 1985. He is also the founder of Winner and Associates, where he has served as president since 1975.

Winner served as a consultant to various local, state, and federal campaigns from 1969 to 1975. Winner was founder and partner of Cerell Winner and Associates from 1966 to 1969. He was Southern California secretary and travel secretary to Gov. Pat Brown from 1965 to 1966.

Among the graded stakes winners he has co-owned are I Want Revenge , Magical Fantasy, Domestic Dispute, and Liberian Freighter.

Winner is a Democrat.
