Keeneland Crowd on Blue Grass Stakes Day

Keeneland Sets Attendance, Handle Records

Lexington track reported on-track attendance of 40,617 for Blue Grass Stakes Day.

Keeneland reported that attendance for Blue Grass Stakes Day, April 14, totaled 40,617, nearly 7,000 above its previous single-day record, and that all-sources wagering on the first 12-race card in history was also a record.

The April 14 attendance figure easily surpassed the previous record of 33,821 set on Saturday, April 21, 2007, Coolmore Lexington Stakes Day. The former record for a Toyota Blue Grass Day attendance was 33,727 set on April 10, 2010.

“This was a historic day at Keeneland and we are humbled by the depth and the breadth of support shown by our community and our industry,” said Nick Nicholson, president and CEO of Keeneland.

All-sources wagering of $21,647,378.17 broke the former record of $19,246,840 set on Toyota Blue Grass Day, April 14, 2007.

The program, which included the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (gr. I), $300,000 Jenny Wiley (gr. IT), $175,000 Commonwealth (gr. II), and $100,000 Shakertown (gr. IIIT), was the first 12-race card in Keeneland history.
