TVG, the racing network and advance deposit wagering service, reported substantial pari-mutuel handle gains by partner racetracks April 14.
Two of the three tracks mentioned in a TVG release—Keeneland and Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races—set all-time handle records on their Saturday programs.
TVG said it handled $1,379,117 on the Keeneland program, up 31% from the comparable program last year. The ADW handled $350,177 on the evening program from Charles Town, up 60% from 2011, and $760,689 on races from Oaklawn Park, up 90%.
Keeneland featured the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I), Charles Town the Charles Town Classic (gr. II), and Oaklawn the Arkansas Derby (gr. I). Full cards from the three tracks were broadcast live on TVG.
Oaklawn races weren't shown on TVG last year.
TVG officials said total handle through the ADW service April 14 was a record for a non-Triple Crown or Breeders’ Cup day. TVG did not release its total handle figure for the day but said handle on races from "partner tracks" was up 19%.
Keeneland reported Saturday all-sources handle of $21,647,378 for 12 races, while Charles Town said total handle for its 13-race card was $3,441,631. According to Equibase, Oaklawn handled $12,925,124 on its Arkansas Derby program.
“Saturday was an extremely positive day for the racing industry, most notably several of our key track partners, and TVG is thrilled to have contributed to that success,” TVG president and chief executive officer Stephen Burn said. “As the 2012 season progresses, we expect more of the same.”
