Grade II Winner Crossing The Line Retired

He won five consecutive races including the grade II Del Mar Mile.

Crossing The Line, a New Zealand import who was a grade II winner at Del Mar, has been retired from racing at age 10, according to Daily Racing Form. The gelding is owned by Richard Templar’s Doubledown Stables and was trained in California by John Sadler.

Crossing The Line (Cape Cross—Winds of War, by War Hawk II) arrived in North America in 2007 after winning two of three starts in his native land. He started off winning three straight that year including the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) in a quick 1:32.50.

Crossing The Line won twice against claiming company at Santa Anita in his two starts this year and was named claimer of the meet. He was retired with a record of 10-4-3 from 20 starts and earnings of $376,448.
