TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) winner Silver Train will shuttle to Siquiera and Mercadante in Parana, Brazil, for the 2012 Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Ten-year-old Silver Train (Old Trieste—Ridden in Thestars, by Cormorant) is based at Northview PA near Peach Bottom, Pa., where he stands for $7,000.
“Silver Train has been received very well in the mid-Atlantic region since his relocation for the 2012 season,” said Carl J. McEntee, director of bloodstock for Northview Stallion Station. “In 2011 Silver Train was represented by several stakes horses and was the leading second-crop sire (in Pennsylvania ) by number of winners. With the ever growing global market, we are delighted that Silver Train will be available to the breeders of Brazil.”
Silver Train, who ranked second nationally by number of winners among second-crop sires last year, has sired 19 stakes horses including Italian champion Silver Ocean, New York graded stakes winner J J's Lucky Train, and 2012 stakes winner Zetterholm, who is being aimed for either the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) or the Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II).
Silver Train will stand in Parana state with the support of Haras Cima, Haras Ponta Pora, and Haras Rio Iguassu, Ricardo Colombo said. "This special horse provides the breeders in Brazil with everything: pedigree, conformation, and an exceptional race record”
“Ricardo and I worked together with the shuttle of Smarty Jones in 2011, and it is with great confidence that we are able to continue our relationship," McEntee said.
