Emirates Park Stud in Australia has purchased a half-interest in successful young sire Artie Schiller. An 11-year-old son of El Prado, Artie Schiller is based at Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky.
“We’re excited about the relationship with Emirates Park,” said WinStar CEO and president Elliott Walden. “Trevor Lobb, the CEO of Emirates, is a very well respected horseman and was the CEO of Woodlands in Australia before it was sold to Darley.”
Artie Schiller, who formerly shuttled to Mike Becker’s Independent Stallion Station in Australia, is represented this year in Australia by group I winner Laser Hawk and group III winner Big Chill. Artie Schiller ranks as Australia’s leading second-crop sire.
Artie Schiller, who won the 2005 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT), has sired a career total of 19 stakes horses, including Mr. Commons, a grade II winner this year and last at Santa Anita. Artie Schiller’s other stakes winners include Canadian graded stakes winner Anne's Beauty, and Blingo, a stakes winner at Santa Anita this year.
Artie Schiller, who is out of the grade I stakes-winning Majestic Light mare Hidden Light, has covered more than 100 of the125 mares booked to him this year.
He will stand at Emirates Park for AUST$22,000.
