Guyana Star Dweej Not Going in Preakness

Colt has one win and five seconds in nine career starts.

Maryland Jockey Club racing officials said May 16 that Guyana Star Dweej would not be entered in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I).

No reason was given for the decision to not enter the colt trained by Doodnauth Shivmangal.

A son of Eddington --Special Feeling, by Pine Bluff, who was purchased by Shivmangal Racing for $5,500 as a Keeneland September sale yearling, Guyana Star Dweej was coming into the May 19 Preakness off a runner-up effort in optional allowance claiming company at Belmont Park April 27.

Guyana Star Dweej galloped and did a “two-mile lick” at Belmont May 15.

The colt broke his maiden in his eighth career start April 7 at Aqueduct Racetrack after three consecutive second place finishes. He has earned $103,830.

The starting field for the Preakness will be known at 6 p.m. May 16 when the post position draw takes place.
