Successful Appeal Filly Sizzles in F-T Work

She goes eighth in :9 4/5 in first session of F-T Midlantic sale's under tack show.

A daughter of Successful Appeal  was among the standouts May 16 during the first session of the under tack show for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training. The bay filly was the fastest worker at an eighth of a mile, covering the distance in :9 4/5 over the track at the Maryland State Fair Grounds in Timonium, Md.

Bred in Florida by Don and Pam Mattox, the filly is consigned to the auction by Old South Farm, agent, and is Hip No. 63 in the sale’s catalog. She is a half sister to Meadow Gem (by Meadow Flight), who captured 2001 Duchess Stakes (Can-III), and the winner High Adventure (by High Yield), who finished third in the 2006 Awad Stakes at Arlington Park. Their dam, Miss Gem (by Exclusive Gem), was a winner and is a half sister to grade II winner Kelly Kip (by Kipper Kelly).

Three horses turned in the quickest quarter-mile works, each posting a time of :21 3/5. They were a Yes It's True–Lady Chip colt named Yes It’s Chip, consigned as Hip No. 6 by Crane Thoroughbreds, agent; an Empire Maker –Limes ’n Lemons filly named Ms Lady Destiny, consigned as Hip No. 22 by Eddie Woods, agent for Daybreak Stables; and an Officer–Ms. C D Player colt, consigned as Hip No. 76 by Marshall W. Silverman, agent.

A Henny Hughes–Tacticmove filly set the pace at three furlongs, turning in a time of :33 3/5. She is consigned to the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale as Hip No. 234 by James Layden, agent.

The second session of the under tack show is scheduled for May 17, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (EDT). The auction will be held May 21 and 22, with each session starting at 10 a.m.
