Nine Line Up in KrisFlyer Sprint

Krypton Factor is gunning for his second group I May 20 at Kranji Racecourse.

Krypton Factor will be looking to notch his second group I victory when he takes on eight challengers in the $800,100 KrisFlyer International Sprint (Sin-I) at Kranji Racecourse May 20.

Owned and trained by Fawzi Abdulla Nass, Krypton Factor (Kyllachy-Cool Question, by Polar Falcon) enters Sunday’s race off a 2 1/4-length victory in the Dubai Golden Shaheen Sponsored by Gulf News (UAE-I) March 31. Given a well-deserved break since that win, the 4-year-old gelding is rested and ready to take on the field in the six-furlong contest. Kieren Fallon will once again be in the saddle.

Better Be The One also raced on Dubai World Cup Day, finishing ninth (only beaten 3 1/2 lengths) to Ortensia in the Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored by Emirates NBD (UAE-IT). The 6-year-old gelding by More Than Ready  bounced back to finish second to Rocket Man in the Lion City Cup April 29. Joao Moreira will ride for trainer Michael Freedman.

Freedman will also be represented in the Sprint by Mr Big. The 4-year-old gelding by Elusive Quality has won seven of 13 lifetime starts, and was named champion 2-year-old in Singapore. Mr Big enters the race off a third-place finish in the Lion City Cup. Stephen Baster will ride.

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam will saddle Secret Asset. The 7-year-old gelding by Clodovil has had one start this year, finishing eighth to Ortensia at Meydan. Secret Asset hasn’t found the winner’s circle since August of last year. However, the gray warrior was a close second to Tangerine Trees in the Prix de l’Abbaye (Fr-I) in October. George Baker will be in the irons.

Ireland will be represented by the 7-year-old mare Invincible Ash. The daughter of Invincible Spirit can rebound from her seventh-place finish in the Al Quoz Sprint. Invincible Ash has been victorious over males before, winning the Sapphire Stakes (Ire-III) at the Curragh last year in addition to winning a conditions race at Meydan in open company. Gary Carroll will ride.

$800,100 KrisFlyer International Sprint (gr. I, race 9, 7:50 a.m. EDT), 6 furlongs (turf).
