Churchill Downs and Seth Hancock of Claiborne Farm are among the 2012 inductees to the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.
They will be honored along with others June 7 at a banquet and ceremony in Louisville.
Churchill opened in 1875 and has offered the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks (both gr. I) since that time. The track also has hosted the Breeders’ Cup World Championships a record number of times.
Hancock became president of his family’s Claiborne Farm in 1972. The farm near Paris, Ky., has a long history of breeding top horses, most recently 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Blame .
