Previous Winners Back in Monmouth Stakes

Get Stormy and Presious Passion are among the eight horses entered in June 10 stakes.

Two previous winners of the Monmouth Stakes (gr. IIT) will face each other again when the race is run June 10 at Monmouth Park in New Jersey.

The 1 1/8-mile grass race drew a field of eight and is carded as race 10 on a 12-race Sunday program.

The return winners are Sullimar Stable’s Get Stormy , a 6-year-old Stormy Atlantic  horse who took the 2010 edition for trainer Tom Bush, and Patricia Generazio’s Presious Passion, a 9-year-old Royal Anthem gelding who won in 2009 for trainer Mary Hartmann.

Get Stormy, a multiple grade I winner, finished ninth in the Woodford Reserve Stakes (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs in his last start. Data Link , a 4-year-old War Front  colt owned and bred by Stuart Janney III, finished fifth in the Woodford Reserve and is entered in the Monmouth Stakes.

Data Link, trained by Shug McGaughey, earlier this year won the Maker’s 46 Mile (gr. IT) at Keeneland. Get Stormy finished fourth in that race.

John Velazquez is scheduled to travel from New York to ride Data Link.
