GI Victor Circular Quay Sires First Winner

Grade I winner Curcular Quay's first winner scores by 5 1/2 lengths at Calder.

Grade I winner Circular Quay came through with his first winner when his daughter Jewel in the Sky won at Calder Casino & Race Course by 5 ½ lengths June 9. Jewel in the Sky captured the 4 1/2-furlong race in :53.42 for breeder/owner Gilbert G. Campbell.

A Florida-bred, Jewel in the Sky is the sixth winner from seven foals of racing age out of the Awesome Again  mare Sunny Again, whose leading runner is stakes winner My Sunshine Gal.

Circular Quay (Thunder GulchCircle of Life, by Belong to Me) won the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) and three other graded stakes and finished second in the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and the Lane’s End Breeders’ Futurity (gr. I). Circular Quay stands for $6,500 at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud near Ocala, Fla.
