Curlin Sires First Two Winners

His two first-crop winners the same day include a group II winner.

Curlin , the 2007-08 Horse of the Year, came through with his first two winners when the colts Lucky First and Zimniy Dvorets won in Russia June 17.

Zimniy Dvorets captured the group II Summer Prize Stakes. Bred in Kentucky by Aaron and Marie Jones, he is the second foal out of multiple stakes winner Stolen Prayer (by Songandaprayer). Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency to the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale, the colt was purchased for $25,000 by MAB Agency.

Lucky First was bred in Kentucky by Becky Winemiller and is out of the Sadler's Wells mareDragon Fly, a full or half sister to four stakes winners. John Black purchased the colt for $19,000 from the Brookdale Sales, agent, consignment to the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale.

Curlin (Smart Strike—Sherriff's Deputy, by Deputy Minister) won such major events as the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), the Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I), and the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-I). He stands for $40,000 at William S. Farish's Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky.
