TCA Awards $597,258 in Grants

Eighty-two non-profits got support from Thoroughbred Charities of America.

Eighty-two Thoroughbred non-profits active in rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and education received grants totaling $597,258 from the Thoroughbred Charities of America in 2012.

Over the past 22 years TCA has distributed grants to more than 200 charities that work to fulfill TCA's mission.

TCA formally affiliated with the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association in 2008 and is now the charitable arm of the Lexington-based organization. The TCA's mission is to provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers by supporting retirement, rescue, and research, and by helping the people who work with them.

"TCA is thrilled to once again assist so many charities that are doing such great work," said TCA president Dan Rosenberg. "TCA’s grants wouldn’t be possible if not for the generosity of our many donors and supporters; we are extremely grateful for their support."

TCA’s primary fundraiser is its annual Stallion Season Auction held each winter in Lexington.

Grant applications for the 2013 grant cycle will be available on in early January. Donations can also be made to the organization through its website.
