My Miss Aurelia to Make 2012 Debut Aug. 8

Champion 2-year-old filly of 2011 will return to racing at Saratoga.

My Miss Aurelia, the unbeaten champion 2-year-old filly of 2011, will make her 2012 debut in the $100,000 Mandy's Gold overnight stakes Aug. 8 at Saratoga Race Course.

Julien Leparoux will ride the daughter of Smart Strike in the 6 1/2-furlong test for 3-year-old fillies, which also drew Well Kept, Srumdiddlyumptious, Delightful Quality, Ullapool, and Xunlei

My Miss Aurelia has always been at home in Saratoga, where she began her career with a pair of victories for owners George Bolton and Stonestreet Stable. She broke her maiden at the Spa last July 22 and then annexed the Adirondack (gr. II) Aug. 14, followed by the Frizette (gr. I) at Belmont Park Oct. 8 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Unraced since wrapping up the 2-year-old filly title with a front-running, three-length victory in the Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) last November, My Miss Aurelia missed the early part of 2012 with a minor shin injury. She returned to the worktab in May, most recently breezing six furlongs in 1:13.03 on July 29 over Saratoga's Oklahoma training track.
Bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, My Miss Aurelia is out of the Sea of Secrets mare My Miss Storm Cat.
