Holy Bull Colt Tops Minnesota Auction

The yearling brings $56,000 at Canterbury Park Aug. 11.

A yearling son of Holy Bull topped the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association's yearling and mixed sale, bringing $56,000 Aug. 11 at Canterbury Park. The price was a record for the auction.

Barry and Joni Butzow purchased the dark bay or brown colt from Oak Tree Farm, agent. Oak Tree consigned him for Raymond and Karen Wheeler, who bred the yearling in Minnesota.

The colt is a half brother to the winner Frannie G (by Forest Wildcat). Their dam, Run With Joy (by Ghazi), captured the Minnesota Oaks and Frances Genter Stakes at Canterbury in 2007.

The results for the auction included a gross of $320,000 for the 31 horses that were sold. The average price was $10,323 and the median price was $5,500. The buy-back rate was 27.9%.
