Former NYRA communications director named director of racing operations at PA track.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course has appointed Dan Silver director of racing operations effective Oct. 22, the Pennsylvania oval announced Sept. 18.

Mark Loewe, currently vice president of racing operations of Hollywood Casino, will be continuing with Penn National Gaming's racing division in a new role to be announced soon.

In his new role, Silver will manage the racing and pari-mutuel operations at Penn National, including its four off-track wagering facilities and eBetUSA/Telebet account wagering operation.

Silver, 32, has worked for the New York Racing Association since 2008. He was promoted to director of communications and media relations in April 2009, a role he has held since.

"We think Dan will be a great addition to the strong foundation that Mark has helped create over the past two years," said Frank Quigley, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

Silver has an undergraduate degree from Haverford College, along with graduate degrees from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and the University of Arizona's Race Track Industry Program.
