Jockey Oscar Ceballos secured the 1,000th victory of his Thoroughbred racing career on Oct. 3 at Albuquerque.

Ceballos picked up the milestone victory in the seventh, when he and Golden Chain opened a two-length advantage through a half-mile. The duo cruised to a 2 1/4-length win in the seven-furlong event, a claiming race for fillies and mares.

Bred in New Mexico by Anthony Trujillo, Golden Chain, a 4-year-old Judge T C filly, is owned and trained by Rey Marquez.

Ceballos has recorded all 20 of his career stakes victories in New Mexico, first breaking through with Christian Don in 1993 at Sunland Park. He is perhaps best known for guiding Dashing Forbes to five stakes victories in 1993 and 1994 at Sunland.

Ceballos has competed in 6,953 races and his mounts have earned $5,262,516.
