Ruyle to Lead Texas Thoroughbred Association

The Texas Thoroughbred Association has promoted Business Manager Mary Ruyle.

Texas Thoroughbred Association Business Manager Mary Ruyle will become the organization’s new executive director on Nov. 1.

Ruyle will take over the position from Dave Hooper, who last month announced plans to resign in order to accept a steward position at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots in New Orleans.

Ruyle, who in 2008 received the Allen Bogan Memorial Award presented to someone who has brought distinction and recognition to the industry in Texas, will celebrate her 25th anniversary at TTA in January. First employed as bookkeeper for the association, she currently serves as business manager.

Ruyle has worked in the areas of accreditation, horse auction sales, TTA-sponsored races, membership, meeting planning, the political action committee, the Texas Thoroughbred Educational Fund, and The Paddock Foundation.

"It has been my great fortune to work alongside and learn from some of the most knowledgeable people in horse racing and I look forward to expanding my role in the industry," Ruyle said.

Hooper said Ruyle has great relationships with TTA members, is readily accessible, and is knowledgeable on all aspects of the Texas racing industry.
