Bern Identity Posts Bullet for Delta Jackpot

George and Lori Hall's Bernstein colt breezes half-mile in :48 1/5 at Delta Downs.

Bern Identity turned in a sharp half-mile breeze Nov. 10 in preparation for the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (gr. III) in a week's time at the Vinton, La., track for trainer Kelly Breen.

With exercise rider Trey Aguilar aboard, Bern Identity was clocked in :48 1/5, the fastest of 65 workouts at the distance at Delta Downs. It was the first published drill for the juvenile son of Bernstein since he coasted to a three-length victory as an odds-on favorite in the Jean Lafitte Stakes over the track Oct. 20.

The Delta Jackpot will be run the night of Nov. 17.

Owned by George and Lori Hall, Bern Identity won the Sanford Stakes (gr. II) July 22 and finished third in the Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 3, both at Saratoga Race Course. The bay colt has won three of five starts during his 2-year-old campaign with earnings of $426,000.

Bred in Kentucky by Galleria Bloodstock, Crosshaven Bloodstock, Petaluma Bloodstock, et al., Bern Identity is out of the graded stakes winner Maddalena, by Good and Tough. He sold for $75,000 as a yearling at Keeneland in September 2011.
