Trainer Todd Pletcher said Wednesday that Repole Stable's Overanalyze, a pre-entrant for Saturday's Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot, is now being pointed to the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs on November 24 as part of the Stars of Tomorrow II program.
"We decided to stay at Churchill since he was already there and felt the extra week would be beneficial," Pletcher explained. "I also wanted to get a two-turn race at Churchill into him and see how he handled it."
Overanalyze opened his career at Saratoga, taking his maiden debut before running fourth in the Grade 2 Hopeful. The Dixie Union bay shipped to Belmont Park to score his first stakes win in the Grade 2 Futurity, then headed to Churchill Downs for a third-place run last out in the Grade 3 Iroquois going a mile.
Pletcher is a two-time winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club. Super Saver won the race in 2009 and returned to Churchill Downs the following year to win the Kentucky Derby. Gemologist scored in 2011 and returned in 2012 to finish 16th in the Derby.
"It's been a good race for us in the past," Pletcher noted. "Those two horses went on to win significant races afterward and we also had Any Given Saturday run second in it, so it's been a good prep for us. We feel like it's important to get a good two-turn race into the two-year-olds before you winter and prepare for the spring."
Pletcher said Delhomme is also under consideration for the Kentucky Jockey Club. The bay son of Dixie Union broke his maiden at second asking at Belmont Park on October 13.
"We'll see how he breezes this weekend and assess the fields at Aqueduct for the (Grade 2) Remsen and the Jockey Club at Churchill Downs and then make a decision," Pletcher remarked.
