Committee to Promote Eclipse Awards Events

Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey and wife Suzee will serve as honorary chairpersons.

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has formed an Eclipse Awards "host committee" that will actively promote participation in Eclipse Awards week events.

Among the events that will be held leading up to the Eclipse Awards ceremony Jan. 19 at Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino in Hallandale Beach, Fla., are a golf tournament Jan. 15 at the Westin Diplomat Golf Location that will benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund; a slots tournament Jan. 16 at Gulfstream Park that will benefit the Race for Education and the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation; a celebrity poker tournament Jan. 17 at Gulfstream Park to benefit the PDJF; and a Jan. 18 cocktail party at Gulfstream Park that will benefit Gulfstream Thoroughbred Aftercare Program.

According to the Dec. 7 announcement, Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey and his wife Suzee will serve as honorary chairpersons of the committee that also includes:

Stacie Clark, program manager, Gulfstream Park Thoroughbred Aftercare Program

Joy Cooper, mayor of Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Craig Fravel, president and CEO, Breeders' Cup

Alana Gabriel, business travel sales manager, Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa

John Hartig, CEO, Daily Racing Form

Elisabeth Jensen, president and executive director, The Race for Education
