Stonestreet Purchases Cosmo Girl for $190,000

Daughter of City Zip was purchased as a broodmare prospect by Stonestreet.

Chris Baccari enjoyed seeing Cosmo Girl take a step toward her new career as a broodmare after she sold for $190,000 on Jan. 9 at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale in Lexington.

Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings landed the 6-year-old City Zip mare. With about three-quarters of the third session complete, Cosmo Girl, who was consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent, was the highest-priced broodmare or broodmare prospect sold during the session.

"She's off the ground, really stretchy, a lot of classa really nice filly," Baccari said.

Baccari purchased Cosmo Girl for $45,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September sale and campaigned her to a stakes win at Oaklawn Park in 2011 and three other stakes placings. Bred in Kentucky, Cosmo Girl is out of the Personal Hope mare Ever Imelda and is a half sister to stakes winner Green Suede Shoes (by Meadow Monster).

Baccari said Cosmo Girl came back from a minor knee injury in 2012 and he considered racing her this season, but thought selling her as a broodmare prospect would be a better option. After John Moynihan signed the ticket for Stonestreet, Baccari congratulated him on the purchase.

"I'm glad somebody like Stonestreet bought her because they'll breed her to nice horses," Baccari said. "That will be a good home."

John Moynihan, agent for Stonestreet reported that Cosmo Girl is booked to first-year stallion Astrology.
