Graded Winner American Lion Sires First Foal

American Lion won the graded Hollywood Prevue Stakes and the Illinois Derby.

American Lion , a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Tiznow , sired his first reported foal when a bay filly was born Jan. 31 at Red Riding Hood Stables near Holly, Mich.

Bred by Christine Kutlenios, the filly is out of the stakes-placed Klinsman mare Klinsman's Luck, a half sister to multiple stakes winner Regal Pusher and stakes winner Born to Be Bad.

American Lion, who is out of the winning Storm Cat mare Storm Tide, won the Hollywood Prevue Stakes (gr. III) at 2 and the Illinois Derby (gr. III) at 3. American Lion, who bred 110 mares from his first book at stud in 2012, stands at John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington. His 2013 fee is $5,000 stands and nurses.
