Crown of Thorns Sires First Offspring

Freshman sire won two grade II stakes and ran second in the Breeders' Cup Sprint.

The first reported foal for Crown of Thorns  is a filly born Jan. 23 at Joe and Helen Barbazon's Pleasant Acres Farm near Morristown, Fla.

Bred by Jim and Linda Hart's Hart Breeders, the newborn is out of the winning Strong Hope  mare Hart's Hope, a half sister to grade III winner Evil Minister and the dam of stakes winner True Way of Grace.

Crown of Thorns (RepentCrowning Touch, by Thunder Gulch) won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. II) and the Mervyn LeRoy Handicap (gr. II) and ran second in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I). He stands at Woodford Thoroughbreds near Reddick, Fla. His 2013 fee is $2,000.
