Namid pushed past Superstar Leo and into the lead with just over a furlong to run to win the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp-Majestic Barriere (Fr-I) by 1 1/2 lengths Sunday at Longchamp. The 4-year-old colt completed the five furlongs in :55.10 over good turf. Superstar Leo, a 2-year-old filly owned by Lael Stable, finished second, three lengths ahead of Pipalong. Perrystown View was fourth, followed by Iron Mask, Seltitude, Bertolini, Khasayl, Primo Valentino, Watching, and Manzor.Lady Clague's Namid earned his first group I win in the Prix de l'Abbaye. John Oxx trains Namid, who was ridden to victory by Johnny Murtagh. For Murtagh, the win was the first of three group I wins on the day. He would later ride Sinndar to victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I), before partnering with Petrushka for her Prix de l'Opera (Fr-I) win. Namid (Indian Ridge--Dawnsio, by Tate Gallery) was bred in Great Britain by Newberry Stud Company.Also on the Arc undercard, Amonita (Anabaa--Spectacular Joke, by Spectacular Bid) on the Prix Marcel Boussac-Criterium des Pouliches Royal Barriere (Fr-I) by two lengths over Karasta. The 2-year-old filly, bred by Ship Commodities International, stopped the timer after running a mile in 1:36.30. Choc Ice was third, followed by La Vida Loca, Born Something, Ascension, Winter Solstice, Green Minstrel, Prove, and Bring Plenty. With the win, Amonita improve to two victories from three career starts.
