Sutherland Part of TVG's Big 'Cap Coverage

Retired former rider of Game On Dude to lend expertise March 2 from Santa Anita.

Chantal Sutherland Kruse, who in 2011 became the first female jockey to win the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) when she piloted Game on Dude to victory, will join TVG for its coverage of Big 'Cap Day March 2.

In addition, TVG customers can double their win bet odds on the big race thanks to the "Big Cap Big Bonus." Odds will be doubled if the win bet selection triumphs by four or more lengths.

Sutherland Kruse, who retired from riding last October, will join Greg Wolf, Todd Schrupp, Simon Bray, and Matt Carothers as part of the TVG team that will provide ramped up coverage of the proceedings.

Because of the historical nature of her Big 'Cap victory, Sutherland Kruse will forever be linked with the event and Game on Dude, expected favorite in this year's race. She also rode Game on Dude in two other grade I wins, the 2012 Hollywood Gold Cup and the 2011 Goodwood, as well as to a second-place finish in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. II).

"We are very excited to have Chantal join our Big Cap coverage team," said Kevin Grigsby, TVG's vice president of production. "She not only offers a unique perspective of this iconic event, but also can deliver great insight into Game on Dude."

"I'm excited to be working with TVG and their fantastic production team," said Chantal. "This is especially exciting because it will bring back wonderful memories. This will be a fun day where I will get the opportunity to tell you what it was like when I won the race with Game on Dude, and I'm looking forward to giving the TVG viewers a jockey's perspective throughout the day."

During her 13-year career, Chantal, a Toronto native, won 931 races and purses worth more than $47 million. She retired at the top of her game as one of racing's all-time leading female jockeys.

She has served as a TVG promotional spokesperson, appeared in the HBO drama, "Luck," and the Animal Planet reality series, "Jockeys." While riding, she launched a modeling career, highlighted by a provocative Vanity Fair photo spread.

TVG's Big Cap Day coverage begins at noon PST with Santa Anita's first race. Besides the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap, the impressive card includes a pair of other grade I contests, the $300,000 Kilroe Mile and the $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes. For its coverage, TVG will use enhanced virtual graphics and offer features focusing on several prominent runners.

The Big Cap is shaping up as a "West vs. East" duel between California-based Game on Dude, coming off a win in the San Antonio Handicap (gr. II), and last year's race winner Ron the Greek, who captured the Sunshine Millions Classic at Florida's Gulfstream Park in his last outing.

TVG customers can register for the "Big Cap Big Bonus" beginning Feb. 27 on a special page at The first win bet placed (up to $25) is eligible for the bonus ($750 maximum) if the horse selected wins by four lengths or more.
