Paucar Notches Career Win 2,000 at Beulah

Paucar learned his trade at the jockey school in Peru.

Ohio-based jockey Edgar Paucar secured the 2,000th win of his career Feb. 25 when he guided Two Cat Wendy to victory in the second race at Beulah Park.

The Peruvian-born rider is a graduate of the riding school there. He competed at Suffolk Downs and the Massachusetts fair circuit when he arrived in the U.S. in 2002 before moving primarily to Beulah Park and River Downs in the 2004 season. Paucar leads the current Beulah Park rider standings and has won multiple riding titles at the Columbus, Ohio area track.

Paucar notched his 2000th victory from 11,049 starts. Some of his top stakes winners include Swiss Miss Too, Left On Base, Brother Terry, Conjuress, Dooze, The Potters Hand, and Borrower.

Bred in Kentucky by B. Wayne Hughes, Two Cat Wendy is owned and trained by Don Mills. The 6-year-old Teton Forest mare won the six-furlong maiden-claiming race by 6 1/2 lengths.
