Bobby Ussery to be Honored in Florida March 5

Friends and horsemen invited to attend dinner for Hall of Fame jockey.

Hall of Fame jockey Bobby Ussery will be honored by friends and horsemen March 5 during a dinner at Luca Bella Restaurant in Aventura, Fla.

Ussery, a native of Oklahoma, won his first race Nov. 22, 1951 aboard Reticule in the Thanksgiving Handicap at Fair Grounds. In 1960 he rode Bally Ache to victories in the Florida Derby and Preakness Stakes (both gr. I) and also was aboard champion Hail to Reason to win that year's Hopeful Stakes (gr. I). In 1967 he won the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) with Proud Clarion.
