NYRA Hires Firm to Conduct Search for CEO

The board also formed a task force to handle long-range planning.

The New York Racing Association Feb. 27 hired a firm to conduct a search for a new chief executive officer and formed a task force to develop a long-range plan for the organization.

NYRA will enter into a contract with RSR Partners to find a CEO. Current president and chief operating officer Ellen McClain tendered her resignation in January but remains on board until at least early spring.

Board members Bobby Flay and Michael Dubb will co-chair the task force. It will be rounded out by NYRA board members Michael DelGuidice and Rick Cotton, and NYRA staff members.

The NYRA board also voted to arrange for necropsies for all equine fatalities at NYRA facilities, continue the 2-year-old bonus program that began in 2012, and hire "peace officers to serve at the pleasure" of directors and officers.
