Simmard to Stand at Mill Creek in NY

Successful sires Pulpit, Johannesburg, and Tale of the Cat are under his second dam.

Simmard, a grade II winner by Dixieland Band, will stand in 2013 at Anne Morgan and Tim Little's Mill Creek Farm near Stillwater, N.Y. His fee is $2,800 stand and nurse.

Owned by Antonio Francesco, 8-year-old Simmard is out of the stakes-winning Spectacular Bid mare Dibs and has successful sires Pulpit, Johannesburg, and Tale of the Cat  under his second dam, State (by Nijinsky II). Simmard, Johannesburg, and Tale of the Cat trace in male line to Northern Dancer.

Simmard won the Mac Diarmida Stakes (gr. IIT), the Louisville Handicap (gr. IIIT) and the Chief Bearhart Stakes. He placed in six stakes, all graded, including the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes (Can-IT), the Bowling Green Handicap (gr. IIT), the W. L. McKnight Handicap (gr. IIT), the Elkhorn Stakes (gr. IIT), and the Pan American Stakes (gr. IIT). Simmard exited racing with a record of 7-5-4 from 32 starts and earnings of $635,953.
