Departing, Mylute Breeze for Louisiana Derby

Clocker Mike Diliberto said Departing "well in hand."

Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider's Departing and GoldMark Farm's Mylute breezed a half-mile on the morning of March 24 in preparation for the 100th anniversary edition of the $1 million Louisiana Derby (gr. II) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots March 30.

Departing, undefeated after three career starts for trainer Al Stall Jr., breezed four furlongs outside of a workmate in :47 1/5, finishing a length ahead of his stablemate. Fair Grounds clocker Mike Diliberto caught Departing, a stakes-winning son of War Front , galloping out five-eighths in 1:00 2/5.

"Departing was well in hand," said Diliberto.

The more experienced Mylute, a graded stakes-placed son of Midnight Lute , breezed the half in :50 flat for trainer Tom Amoss. Mylute was seventh in the Risen Star Stakes (gr. II) Feb. 23 at Fair Grounds.

"Mylute's move was just an easy maintenance," Diliberto said.
