First Winner for Champion Kodiak Kowboy

Son of Posse represented by first winner with his first starter.

Freshman sire Kodiak Kowboy was represented by his first starter and winner when 2-year-old filly Bear Facts won a Trial race at Turf Paradise April 19.

Bear Facts raced the 4 1/2 furlongs in :52.55 over a fast track for trainer Molly Pearson and owners Bar Diamond Ranch, Robert W. Morgan, and Daniel Avena. The chestnut filly was produced from the Boston Harbor mare I'vegothemusicinme and was bred in Kentucky by C. Kidder and N. Cole.

An 8-year-old son of Posse, Kodiak Kowboy won or placed in 18 of 23 races and earned $1,663,363. A multiple grade II winner at 2, he was voted Canada's champion 2-year-old male. At 3, Kodiak Kowboy sprinted to victory in the Amsterdam Stakes (gr. II) and Sport Page Handicap (gr. III). Kodiak Kowboy blossomed as a 4-year-old, winning the Cigar Mile, Carter Handicap, and Vosburgh Stakes, all grade I, en route to being voted champion sprinter.
