In Summation Sires First Winner at Delaware

No Fruit Degroote represents grade I winner and track record setter with debut win.

Freshman sire In Summation , a grade I-winning millionaire and two-time Santa Anita Park track record-setter, sired his first winner when his 2-year-old colt No Fruit Degroote impressively captured his debut at Delaware Park June 1.

No Fruit Degroote was a decisive 1 1/2-length winner in a $38,752 maiden special weight race at 4 1/2 furlongs.

The dark bay or brown colt broke sharply and flashed good early speed while pressing the leader in second. No Fruit Degroote took command on the turn and opened up to be a clear winner in the stretch, stopping the clock in :53.33 seconds over a fast main track.

Trained by Ricky Griffith, No Fruit Degroote earned $22,800 for owner Debmar Stables, who purchased the colt last year as a yearling for $25,000 at the Ocala Breeder Sales Co. Bred in Florida by Big C Farm, the colt is out of the Slew Gin Fizz mare Blazing Fizz.

On the track, In Summation captured 11 stakes wins, four of them graded, with earnings of $1,266,166. His biggest win was in the 2007 Bing Crosby Handicap (gr. I) at Del Mar, and he set track records at 6 furlongs and 5 1/2 furlongs in back-to-back graded stakes wins at Santa Anita in 2008. In Summation won the El Conejo Handicap (gr. III) in 1:01.27 for 5 1/2 furlongs, and he returned just three weeks later to win the six-furlong Palos Verdes Handicap (gr. II) in 1:06.67, which was a few ticks off the world record at the time.

After graduating in his first start in May 2005 at Calder Casino & Race Course, In Summation ran in 28 consecutive stakes races14 of them gradedover five seasons. He retired to stud at J. Michael O'Farrell's Ocala Stud in Florida with a mark of 12-6-1 in 29 starts.
