TVG's Royal Ascot Coverage Begins June 18

Animal Kingdom's run in Queen Anne Stakes kicks off five-day meet in Great Britain.

With Animal Kingdom  headlining the proceedings for American viewers, TVG will present live coverage of the five-day Royal Ascot race meet beginning June 18.

Greg Wolf will serve as host of TVG’s coverage. He will be joined by analyst Simon Bray. The former trainer is well versed in Royal Ascot lore from his days as an assistant to the legendary conditioner Sir Henry Cecil, who died earlier this week.

TVG’s coverage, including all 30 races, will air from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT from Tuesday through the conclusion of the meet Saturday, June 22. Tuesday’s show will also air on Sun Sports, MSG Plus, and Altitude, with MSG Plus and Altitude carrying Saturday’s coverage.

Animal Kingdom, winner of the 2011 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and 2013 Dubai World Cup (UAE-I),  will help kick things off Tuesday when he competes in the Queen Anne Stakes (Eng-I). The one-mile contest is to be his final start prior to departing for Australia to begin his stallion career.

Frankel, who was trained by Cecil, won last year’s Queen Anne.

Joining the Queen Anne on Tuesday’s program are a pair of additional group I races, the King’s Stand Stakes and the St. James’s Palace Stakes. There will also be one group I contest on each of the meet’s other days, including the Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Wednesday), the Ascot Gold Cup (Thursday), the Coronation Stakes (Friday), and the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Saturday).
